When should I arrive? (Last updated: 06/29/2022)
NORTHVILLE PRACTICE TESTING HOURS:
TEMPLE ISRAEL TESTING HOURS (West Bloomfield Testing Site):
NOTE: TEMPLE ISRAEL IS CLOSED EVERY 2ND AND 4TH THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH!
TEMPLE BETH-EL TESTING HOURS (Bloomfield Site):
Note that SAME-DAY RT-PCR COVID-19 Send-Out testing stops at 3:00 PM EST daily. The laboratory picks up the samples at exactly 3:00 PM EST in order to release SAME-DAY results later that evening.
If you would like a SAME-DAY test, please arrive before 3:00 PM EST. Please arrive before 3:00 PM for prompt results.
What is the process like for testing?
We exceed testing guidelines and always test you while you remain in your car. We do this to avoid infectious aerosols from contaminating others!
If you are planning on testing at the Northville clinic, please pull into one of the five designated parking spots directly in front of the building. Our staff is always watching the line and a provider will be right with you to hand out paperwork and swab you right in your car.
If you are planning on testing at either the Temple Israel testing site or the Temple Beth-El testing site, there will also be a designated site upon arrival on where to line up and staff is outside constantly directing and helping patients. Staff will be ready to hand you paperwork once situated.
Be aware that testing in asymptomatic individuals is less accurate than in symptomatic patients. Our goal is to provide you with the most accurate results, which is why we strongly encourage the RT-PCR COVID-19 test for everyone getting tested.
Please be advised that the Emcura Immediate Care - Bloomfield clinic is no longer performing curbside COVID-19 testing. The Temple Israel and Temple Beth-El testing sites are located within 10 minutes from the Bloomfield clinic for COVID-19 testing.
How long is the wait? How long does it take to get tested?
Wait times vary depending on the weather, emergencies, short-staffing, and volume of patients. Please be patient while we try to accommodate and adjust to changing circumstances. For any updates, please refer to our Instagram (@emcuramedical) or Facebook regarding emergency closings and weather-related closings.
I've been waiting a long time - what's the hold-up?
Please keep in mind that there are only two providers at most at every clinic (one provider on most weekends) that triage and hand out intake forms and also see walk-in urgent care patients inside. Sometimes, there is a wait depending on how busy the clinic is. We appreciate your patience as we try to balance fast and speedy care with the unpredictable volume of patients.
Do I need to make an appointment?
No - we do not take appointments for COVID-19 testing. Online booking is unavailable. Everything is completed curbside and drive-up and administered on a "first-come, first-serve" basis. We do not give priority over who would be tested before others, so please plan accordingly!
When will I receive my results?
Results directly depend on the volume of patients, staffing, weather, and emergencies. Please be advised that results are not guaranteed to arrive at a specific time, and we can only give a timeline of when to receive results. We cannot give a specific time or day when the results would arrive.
We advise patients to be mindful of when to receive their tests.
- 24-48 hours for COVID-19 RT-PCR Send-Out Tests
- 1-6 hours for COVID-19 RT-PCR In-House Tests
- 15 minutes to 1 hour for Rapid Antigen COVID-19 Tests
How will I receive my results?
Each test has a different way of receiving results:
- COVID-19 RT-PCR Send-Out Test results will be sent to the provided email upon testing.
- COVID-19 RT-PCR In-House Test results will need to be picked up by the patient once the results are finalized. We will call you once the results are ready. If you have an international phone number, we will give a more approximate wait time when you get tested so you can plan to pick up the results.
- Rapid Antigen COVID-19 Test results will be given verbally over the phone or in person; however, paperwork is available upon request.
We cannot provide COVID-19 RT-PCR In-House results nor Rapid Antigen COVID-19 results over email. We do not have a medically-secure email and we are not authorized to send results.
What is the "password" for my results?
The password will be the patient's birth year. For example, if the patient was born in 2004, the password will be "2004".
How much is testing?
Testing is billed as an office visit and testing is ordered by the provider.
COVID-19 RT-PCR Send-Out and Rapid Antigen COVID-19 Tests will be run through insurance; therefore, payment depends on how much coverage is provided by the patient's specific insurance provider and plan. We cannot determine the exact specifics of how much coverage will be provided for each individual patient so we advise you to contact your insurance provider with questions regarding insurance coverage. Typically, insurances will cover the COVID-19 testing if it is medically necessary (if you have symptoms and/or have had an exposure).
If you do not have insurance, we will run the RT-PCR test via In-House COVID-19 RT-PCR testing which is $175.00
COVID-19 RT-PCR In-House Tests are $175.00 USD. Some insurances accept In-House Tests (inquire within).
Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Tests are $75.00 USD for those who cannot use insurance for the test (such as travel).
The forms of payment accepted are card and cash only (no checks).
Travel testing is the responsibility of the patient.
Please be mindful that if the test you are receiving is:
- acceptable by the airline and place of travel (including within domestic travel)
- acceptable within the timeline of travel (most accept tests between 24-72 hours before travel)
- the correct requested type of COVID-19 test
Insurance coverage for travel/screening COVID-19 testing varies among payment plans and companies. Keep in mind that travel/screening testing is not a medical necessity. Please contact your insurance provider for more details regarding coverage.
Please also keep in mind how you will receive your test.
Recall that the RT-PCR COVID-19 In-House and Rapid Antigen COVID-19 test results must be picked up by the patient - not emailed.
