Welcome to the Emcura family! We’re so glad you’re here. We’ve put together this guide to help you understand how we work and how we can best take care of you. Think of this as the "instruction manual" for getting the most out of your healthcare experience with us.
General Questions
Do I need a referral to start with Wellness by Emcura?
No. You can book directly. If your insurer requires a referral for certain tests, we’ll let you know and coordinate as needed.
How long is the first visit and what happens?
Plan for 30 minutes for your initial intake and either in person or via telemedicine. YOU MUST COMPLETE AN INTAKE FORM PRIOR TO ARRIVAL. (LINKS) Our intake providers then review your goals, history, medications/supplements, and order labs or imaging appropriate. Labs may be ordered, or you will then meet with our wellness specialists (Dr Supak Sookasikon, Dr Jenniefer Ruel or Dr Manish Kesliker) for your initial plan. Once we meet, you’ll leave with a clear next-step plan.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes — for appropriate follow-ups, results reviews, program check-ins, and medication management when an in-person exam isn’t required.
Can you work alongside my primary care or specialist?
Absolutely. We’ll share results and plans at your request and coordinate care.
Women’s Health, BHRT & Thyroid
Do you offer bioidentical hormone therapy (BHRT) for menopause?
Yes — when clinically appropriate after a detailed history, symptom review, and labs. We individualize dosing and monitor regularly for safety and efficacy.
Is BHRT safe?
Risks and benefits vary by individual. We screen for contraindications, discuss current evidence, and monitor labs and symptoms on a structured schedule.
What’s included in an advanced thyroid work-up?
TSH, Free T4, Free T3, and — when indicated — thyroid antibodies, plus a review of ironstatus, iodine/selenium intake, symptoms, and medication response.
Men’s Health & Optimization
How do you evaluate low testosterone?
We assess symptoms, total and free testosterone, SHBG, and related health factors. If treatment is appropriate, we discuss options, monitoring, and fertility considerations.
Do you provide prostate screening?
We coordinate PSA and guideline-based screening with your PCP/urologist and incorporate risk factors into your overall plan.
Cardiac Risk & Imaging
What makes your cardiac prevention “advanced”?
We quantify risk using apoB, lipoprotein(a), NMR lipoprotein analysis, hs-CRP, andinsulin resistance markers. When appropriate, we coordinate CCTA and FFR-CT through partner imaging centers to better stratify risk and guide prevention.
Do you perform CCTA/FFR-CT in-house?
Imaging is coordinated with trusted partner centers; we handle ordering, schedulingsupport, and result interpretation within your wellness plan.
GLP-1 Weight Management
Do you prescribe GLP-1 medications (like semaglutide)?
Yes — FDA-approved GLP-1s when clinically appropriate. We also discuss nutrition, resistance training, and sleep to support fat loss while protecting lean mass.
What about compounded GLP-1 medications?
When FDA-approved products are not available or clinically appropriate, we may coordinate compounded options through state-licensed compounding pharmacies, in compliance with federal and state regulations. We’ll review benefits, risks, sourcing, and consent.
How often are check-ins?
Typically monthly at the start, then tailored to your response. We monitor weight, body composition, blood pressure, labs, and side effects.
Gut, Food Sensitivities & Microbiome
Are food sensitivity tests reliable?
They can provide useful clues when interpreted within your history and symptoms but are not diagnostic by themselves. We pair results with clinical context and often use a structured elimination/re-challenge plan.
What gut or microbiome tests do you use?
We select tests based on your symptoms (stool, breath, or targeted panels). Not everyone needs extensive testing — we prioritize impactful, action-oriented data.
Micronutrients & Supplements
Do you test micronutrient levels?
Yes — for select patients where results will change management. We match supplements to your labs and goals and check for interactions with prescriptions.
Do you carry physician-grade supplements?
Yes — physician-grade supplements are available on site or online and are recommended based on your immediate needs, lab results and long term goals.. We focus on quality, safety, and evidence.
We also offer physician grade supplements through our Fullscripts Account, where supplements can be identified for select medical conditions by Dr Supak Sookkasikon. Her Fullscripts account always has a 20% discount.
