What is Occupational Medicine and how is it different from the Urgent Care?
Occupational Medicine or Occupational Health Urgent care provides a known level of care, documentation and management that is not available at regular clinics. We are aware ofOccupational Health requirements, we manage cases to avoid recordable case, and we work to get your employees back to work asap. Emcura Occupational Medicine has been doing this for municipalities, school districts and large employers for over 10 years.At Emcura, we are different in that we manage everything from infections and fractures to stitches and X-rays in one place! We avoid referrals if needed, which saves you time and money. We only refer when appropriate, and only to known groups who have experience and a reputation for managing your cases appropriately.
What is Emcura Occupational Medicine?
We are a family-owned, physician-led health group serving Southeast Michigan since 2013, with locations in Bloomfield, Northville/Novi, Royal Oak, and Grosse Pointe Woods.We combine fast access with comprehensive capabilities (on-site X-ray, labs/blood draws, procedures, and wellness options to help save you time and money. Hospital and ER owned clinics cannot offer the scope of healthcare we do under one roof.

Services & Capabilities - Injury Care, Return-to-Work,
Medications & Prescriptions

Do you treat work injuries?
Yes — sprains/strains, contusions, lacerations (stitches), suspected fractures (digital X-rayon site), and wound care. We issue clear work status and follow-ups to support a safe, timely return-to-work.
Can you coordinate transitional duty?
Yes. We’ll outline restrictions and timing, and coordinate with your HR/supervisor.
Do you provide post-accident drug/alcohol testing?
Yes — we follow your policy on post-accident timeframes and modalities; call us before sending to ensure rapid handling.
Can you prescribe medications?
Yes. We prescribe antibiotics, antivirals, inhalers, and other acute medications as appropriate for your work-related condition. We can address non work-related issues as well, but through your personal insurance or as a self-pay visit.
Do you prescribe controlled substances (pain medication, anxiety medication)?
For patient and provider safety, we do not prescribe long-term controlled substances for workman’s comp. Short courses of pain mediations may be considered in very specific acute situations, but only with the approval of our medical director and any chronic management must be coordinated through primary care or PM and R specialists. A MAPS will always be checked and reviewed. Any discrepancy or concern will result in our inability to prescribe a controlled substance.
Do you provide X-rays and imaging?
Yes. We have digital X-rays onsite at all urgent care locations. All images are read by our providers and reviewed by board-certified radiologists. We are also able to order STAT imaging through local, non-hospital based imaging centers.
Do you do lab testing onsite?
Yes. We are one of a few clinics who can provide onsite testing for: • Rapid strep, flu, RSV, mono and more • Molecular Covid, Flu, Strep and more • Urinalysis and pregnancy testing • Covid Antigen testing • Blood work (CBC, metabolic panel, etc.) with results typically next day • Drug and alcohol testing (DOT and non-DOT), Breath Alcohol testing

Can you do EKGs?

Yes, 12-lead EKGs are available on site. If abnormalities suggest urgent or life-threateningheart issues, we will refer you directly to the ER.
Do you provide vaccines?
Yes. We stock common vaccines for Urgent Care (tetanus boosters, flu shots, travel vaccinesas available). Call ahead for availability. We do carry TDAP for self pay patients.
Do you offer primary care and prevention?
Yes. We offer ongoing primary care through Emcura Primary Care.
Pregnancy, Special Situations

I’m pregnant—can I be seen?
Yes — sprains/strains, contusions, lacerations (stitches), suspected fractures (digital X-rayon site), and wound care. We issue clear work status and follow-ups to support a safe, timely return-to-work.
DOT & Compliance

Do you perform DOT physicals and issue Medical Examiner’s Certificates (MEC)?
Yes. Our FMCSA-certified medical examiners perform DOT exams and issue the MEC (MCSA-5876) when drivers meet requirements.

Who is allowed to perform a DOT physical?

Only providers listed as Certified Medical Examiners on the FMCSA National Registry.
What drug and alcohol tests do you offer?
DOT and non-DOT urine drug tests (5/10-panel, lab-based or rapid per policy), BreathAlcohol Tests, and hair/oral-fluid collections when your program requires them. DOT testing is used in scenarios like random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up.
Do DOT physicals require a drug test automatically?
No — drug testing is governed separately; your employer program or incident typedetermines when testing is required.
Can you help with respirator clearance and fit testing?
Yes. We complete the OSHA respirator questionnaire and perform qualitative fit tests when indicated.
Vaccination, Labs & Screenings

Do you offer TB testing, titers, and required vaccinations?
Yes — PPD/Interferon Gold Testing for TB, MMR/Varicella/Hep B titers can be done.We also can offer Hep B/Td/ Tdap/Flu vaccinations as indicated by your policy or industrystandards. medexpress.com
Can you do EKGs, audiometry, and vision testing?
Yes — plus color vision testing and role-based lift testing.
Access, Hours, Wait Times, Virtual Care

Do you offer Urgent Care/ Occupational Medicine telemedicine visits?
Yes. Patients located in Michigan may request a same-day Occupational Medicine / UrgentCare telehealth visit for certain conditions (minor injuries, triage, cold, flu, rashes, medication refills). If further testing is needed, you may be invited for an in-person follow-up at no extra cost.
What if I need care after hours?
Emcura Occupational Medicine has extended evening and weekend hours. If we are closed and you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911.
How quickly can I be seen?
Most patients are seen within 15 minutes of arrival. We prioritize based on the urgency of symptoms. Emergencies will always be taken back and be triaged immediately.
What are your hours?
Hours vary by site and season. Most clinics are open from 8am to 8pm on weekdays and9am to 6 pm on weekends, but please check each location page or call your clinic for today’s hours.
Do you accept walk-ins?
Yes—walk-ins welcome at all locations during posted business hours. (Call your location for today’s hours.)
Do I need an appointment?
No — walk-ins are always welcome. However, you can reserve your spot online or call ahead for convenience and reduced wait times. Once your portal access is active, your authorization forms can be submitted online, further expediting treatment and communication back to you!
Pre-Employment & Specialty Physicals

What pre-employment exams do you provide?
Role-specific exams including post-offer screenings, public-safety (police/fire), school-district, factory/industrial, golf course/grounds, and executive physicals, with optional audiometry, vision, lift testing, vaccinations, TB/IGRA, and titers.
Can you customize a physical for a specific job?
Yes. We’ll incorporate your job description, essential functions, and any union/HRrequirements.
How fast are results?
Same-day for most exams and negative rapid tests; 24–72 hours for lab confirmations orMRO reviews (timeframes vary by lab/program). Most can be accessed in real time via our portal once this is set up for your organization.
Getting Started & Scheduling

Can I send an employee today?
Yes. If you have an authorization form, you can send them during posted hours; call us first for any time-sensitive testing (e.g., post-accident).
What should the employee bring?
A government ID and your employer authorization form specifying the services (e.g., 10-panel UDS, BAT, physical, respirator clearance).
Do you accept eCCF/FormFox?
Yes — we can work with Form Fox and standard electronic chain-of-custody forms when your program supports them.
Do you offer standing accounts for employers?
Yes. We can set up an account, preferred panels, reporting contacts, and billing.
Insurance, Billing & Records

How do you handle results and records?
Results go to the authorized employer contact on your form. Employee medical privacyis maintained; DOT programs follow 49 CFR Part 40 processes via MRO/TPA.
19: Who pays — the employer or employee?
For employer-ordered services, billing follows the authorization form/account. Workers’compensation claims follow carrier/TPA processes; self-pay is available if permitted.
Can we set up direct billing and standardized panels?
Absolutely. We’ll create your account, panels, and report routing so future visits are plug-and-play-Our urgent care costs are significantly lower than emergency room visits.
How can I get my visit summary , medical records or test results?
Ask at check-out or call your location; Visit summaries are available through our secure patient portal or upon request at checkout. Test results are typically available within 24–48hours. We’ll provide instructions for records requests and follow-up. There may be a fee for extensive records or extra Xray copies.
How are lab and imaging results handled?
Urgent results are called back immediately.You may see results in your hospital portal before we do — please allow us time to review.If 24+ hours pass without a call, please contact the clinic. Copies of results are always available.
No-Show & Cancellation Policy

What happens if I miss my appointment?
24-hour notice is required.A credit card will soon be required on file to book appointments.No call , No-shows without notice will be charged $75.After 3 no-call/no-shows, you may be dismissed from the practice.

Do you use AI or other third party partners in your encounters?
Abnormal issues will be called to our HR managers immediately.Non-urgent messages: within 24 to 48 hours.Urgent issues: please notify the operator for same-day callback or come to the clinic for avisit.Many results and communications will soon be available through the Follow My Healthportal.
Patient Conduct

What are expectations for patient behavior?
Our team is committed to your care and safety. They deserve your respect.Aggressive or belligerent behavior toward staff or providers will not be tolerated and will result in dismissal from the practice. This is a ZERO TOLERANCE policy and will be strictly enforced.
