Primary Care FAQ

Welcome to the Emcura family! We’re so glad you’re here. We’ve put together this guide to help you understand how we work and how we can best take care of you. Think of this as the "instruction manual" for getting the most out of your healthcare experience with us.

General FAQs: The Emcura Way

What makes Emcura Primary Care different?
We aren’t a big, cold corporation. We are family-owned and physician-operated. We started this practice to provide the exact kind of care we’d want for our own parents, siblings, and kids. This means we focus on longevity, wellness, and finding the root cause of health issues rather than just "patching things up". We love to teach, and we believe you'll feel the difference that a physician-owned practice provides.
Do I need an appointment?
It depends! For annual physicals or dedicated one-on-one time with your provider, you’ll need an appointment so we can give you a thorough evaluation. However, we always offer walk-in care for urgent needs during our open hours. Just keep in mind that if your specific provider is working the walk-in clinic, they might not have as much time for a deep dive as they would during a scheduled visit.

How fast can I be seen?
Very fast! Most walk-in patients are seen within minutes, and our average wait time is under 15 minutes. We also offer same-day or next-day primary care appointments, either in person or via telemedicine.
Do you see children and teens?
Right now, we provide primary care for teens aged 16 and older who are past most of their initial immunizations.
What insurance do you accept?
We accept most major plans, including BCBS, UHC, Aetna, Cigna, Medicare, and Priority Health. It’s always a good idea to call us to verify your specific plan. When you call, mention Emcura Primary Care, A3 Primary Care, or look for Dr. Manish Kesliker or Dr. Supak Sookkasikon.
Who can be my primary care provider?
You can choose any of our expert providers, including our physicians, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants.
Do you offer self-pay?
Yes! We offer transparent self-pay pricing for those without insurance or for services insurance doesn't cover. Because we do so much on-site, we often save you the high costs of ER visits or outside referrals. Our self-pay costs are often much lower than other area clinics.
How quickly do you respond to messages?
Non-urgent: 24 to 48 hours. Urgent: Notify the operator for a same-day callback. Emergency: Notify the operator or physically come into to the clinic to be seen. We are always available to help you! Portal: Many results and communications are moving to our EMR portal for even faster access.
Where are you located?
We have clinics in Bloomfield Hills, Northville/Novi, Royal Oak, and Grosse Pointe Woods. You can even ask Siri or Google for "directions to Emcura" to find the one closest to you.
On-Site Services: Everything Under One Roof

We built Emcura to be a "one-stop shop" so you don't have to drive all over town for testing.
X-rays: All locations have digital X-ray equipment. Images are read by our staff and double-checked by a board-certified Radiologist.
Labs: We draw blood on-site (phlebotomy), and most results are back by the next day.EKGs: Available on-site for both urgent evaluations and routine heart screenings.
Bioidentical Hormone Management, Micronutrient Testing, Food Sensitivity Testing, Advanced Cardiac Testing, Thyroid Therapy and more: Through Wellness by Emcura, we offer bioidentical hormone therapy, comprehensive thyroid testing (TSH, free T4, free T3, and antibodies), food sensitivity testing, micronutrient testing to see if you are taking the correct supplements or enough, advanced cardiac testing and much more!
Specialized Care: We treat everything from menstrual concerns and inflammation to "Low-T" and prostate screenings for men.
Weight Loss: We offer a complete weight loss program that is Medically Supervised to help you meet your goals and help keep everything off. We offer GLP-1s, Adipex, and many other non-pharmoclogic options!
Supplements: We carry physician-grade supplements in the clinic and via our Fullscripts account (which offers a 20% discount!).
Does Emcura offer travel medicine or vaccines?
Yes, we can consult with you on necessary vaccinations or medications (like malaria prevention) based on your travel destination. Please schedule this at least 4–6 weeks before your trip.
Keeping You Healthy: Visit Requirements

To keep you safe and ensure your medications are working as they should, we require regular check-ins.
Healthy / Stable Meds: Annually
Chronic Medical Issues: Every 6 months
Serious Conditions: Every 3 months
Controlled Substances: Every 3 months (includes drug testing/MAPS review)
Medicare (Chronic): Monthly telephone check-ins (highly suggested)

Note: Annual physicals are required to maintain your primary care status and eligibility for lower copays.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring a photo ID, your current insurance card, and a list of all medications and supplements you are currently taking. If you have recent medical records or lab results from another doctor, bring those too!
How do I prepare for my annual physical?
For the most accurate lab results, we usually recommend fasting (no food, only water) for 8–12 hours before your visit but we can always order labs at your visit to be drawn at a later date! Wear comfortable clothing that allows us to easily check your vitals and perform an exam.
What if I have a medical question after hours?
For life-threatening emergencies (chest pain, stroke symptoms, major trauma), call 911 or go to the nearest ER. For non-emergency questions, you can leave a message on our office line, and we will get back to you during the next business day.
Can I access my medical records online?
Yes! We encourage all patients to sign up for our patient portal. There, you can view lab results, see upcoming appointments, and message your care team.
Telemedicine: Care from Your Couch

Do you offer virtual visits?
Yes, if you live in Michigan! You can call us to request a telemedicine visit for sick visits, follow-ups, or some prescription renewals. Video Required: These must be done via video on your mobile phone. Payments: Copays and deductibles are collected before the visit starts. Bonus: If we see you virtually but realize you need an in-person test (like a strep or flu test), we may offer a free follow-up office visit to confirm the diagnosis.
The Logistics: Refills, Results, and Referrals

How do I get a refill?
Please plan ahead! Requests typically take 24 to 48 hours. If you have an urgent need for a refill, you must come in for a walk-in visit or a telemedicine appointment. Please don't wait until the last minute—it isn't fair to our hard-working staff. Controlled substances require dedicated visits every 3 months. These visits cannot be combined with urgent care visits and will include documentation review (MAPS) and periodic drug testing.
How will I get my results?
We try to call you as soon as possible. You might see your results in the patient portal before we do; please give us time to review them thoroughly before calling. If 24 hours pass and you haven't heard from us regarding a result you see, feel free to reach out.
How do referrals work?
We have a trusted network of specialists. Referrals usually take 3–5 business days. If you need an immediate referral, you must come in for an in-person or telemedicine visit.

What about imaging requests from other doctors?

We must see you as a patient first to complete an outside request. We need to document the need and ensure we are reimbursed for the time spent on the prior authorization process.
Paperwork and Policies (The Firm Stuff)

What is the No-Show policy?

We value your time, and we ask that you value ours. 24-hour notice is required for cancellations. No Calls and No-shows will be charged $75. After three no-shows, we may have to ask you to find another practice. We will soon require a credit card on file to book appointments.
How do you handle forms (FMLA, Disability, etc.)?
Simple forms take 24–48 hours (less than 3 pages), but extensive paperwork (over 3 pages), FMLA and Disability paperwork requires a dedicated appointment so we can fill them out accurately with you. There are many questions that will need coordination and clarification for you, so we need to do this together. If the information is inaccurate and the forms need a revision, that will require another visit.
What about Prior Authorizations?
We are here to help, but we can’t start the process until your insurance sends us the forms. If a form is longer than 3 pages, we will schedule a dedicated telemedicine or in office visit to complete it together. This helps coordinate and clarify your prior authorization to help get it approved but. Please keep in mind that there is no guarantee that your insurance will approve this application.
What are your billing policies?
We are not a concierge practice. Please help keep our practice accessible by taking care of your balances, deductibles and copays in full! Payment is due at the time of your visit. This includes past balances. There is a 3% surcharge for credit card transactions. Deductibles: If your deductible is over $500, we may ask for a minimum payment at the time of service ($70 for basic, $110 for advanced). Late Fees: $10/month for late payments. Accounts over 90 days past due will go to collections and with a collections 30% fee added. Credit Health: Per June 2025 regulations, medical debt will appear on your credit report. We are happy to set up payment plans—just talk to us!
Our Mutual Respect Policy

What are your expectations for behavior?
Our team works incredibly hard to keep you healthy and safe. They deserve your kindness and respect. Aggressive or belligerent behavior toward our staff or providers will not be tolerated and will result in immediate dismissal from the practice. Let’s keep things friendly!
