Welcome to the Emcura family! We’re so glad you’re here. We’ve put together this guide to help you understand how we work and how we can best take care of you. Think of this as the "instruction manual" for getting the most out of your healthcare experience with us.
General Questions
What is urgent care and how is it different from the ER?
-Urgent care provides same-day, walk-in treatment for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries.
-At Emcura, since 2013, we are different in that we offer more services onsite that other Hospital or ER owned clinics. We manage everything from infections and fractures to stitches and X-rays in one place! We avoid referrals if needed, which saves you time and money.
-If you are experiencing life-threatening symptoms (chest pain, severe shortness of breath, stroke symptoms, or major trauma), you should call 911 or go directly to the emergency room.
What is Emcura Medical & Immediate Care?
-We are a family-owned, physician-led urgent care and primary care group serving Southeast Michigan since 2013, with locations in Bloomfield, Northville /Novi, RoyalOak, and Grosse Pointe Woods.
-We combine fast access with comprehensive capabilities (on-site X-ray, labs/blood draws, procedures, and wellness options to help save you time and money. Hospital and ER owned clinics cannot offer the scope of healthcare we do under one roof.
Why choose Emcura Immediate Care vs Hospital or ER owned Urgent Cares?
• Family-owned since 2013 — not corporate, so your care is personal.
• Comprehensive o site services: digital X-rays, labs, IV therapy, EKGs, wound care, laceration repair, splints, and more — all in one visit. Most Hospital or ER owned clinic will refer you to a higher level of care for services we offer onsite, resulting in an ER charge as well as your urgent care charge.
• Extended hours and walk-ins welcome — minimal wait times, 7 days a week.
• Experienced providers trained in ER, family medicine, internal medicine/hospitalist and integrative medicine.
• Far more affordable care compared to ER visits, with transparent self-pay pricing.
• Hospital and ER Owned clinic see you as a referral source. We don’t. We do our best to keep you safe and out of the hospital when we can. This saves you time and money and we help to manage your costs with better care.
• Patients routinely praise our kind staff, low waits, and thorough care in public reviews.

What insurance do you accept?

Do you offer self-pay?
Yes, we always offer transparent pricing for all services. Some services and tests maybe bundled together, but most items are charged ala carte. We do collect payment up front for self-pay pricing or place a hold on your CC for anticipated charges prior to your visit. Please call your location for specific pricing or check our Resources section for our current pricing. Our urgent care costs are significantly lower than emergency room visits.
What are your payment policies?
Balances must be paid at the time of visit, even if not noted on prior visits. A 3% surcharge may apply to credit card transactions to offset processing costs. Deductibles: Patients with deductibles >$500 may be asked to pay a minimum at the time of service (e.g., $70 for basic visits, $120 for advanced services/tests). Final charges may be higher depending on insurance.Late payments accrue $10/month. Accounts >90 days after insurance adjudication may be sent to collections, with a 30% collection agency fee added.Medical debt and credit reporting: Recent regulations (June 2025) now allows medical debt to impact your credit and credit rating. While we cannot control this, we arewilling to work with patients on payment plans—but balances must be resolved for services rendered to you in good faith. -MEDICAL DEBT WILL APPEAR ON YOUR CREDIT REPORT AND MAY PREVENT LENDERS FROM PROVIDING SERVICES
How do deductibles work? Why do you collect deductibles?
If your deductible exceeds $500, a minimum payment may be collected at the visit:
- $70 for basic services.
- $120 for advanced services (e.g., IV therapy, PCR/molecular testing).
This is not the final charge; additional amounts may be billed after insurance adjudication. We must collect deductibles to help pay our bills TODAY. Many insurance companies are contractually allowed to withhold payments for up to 90 days, AND patients are not always paying their bills on time (average payment made 90 days after visit), OR AT ALL. By providing our time and offering more services, we are incurring MORE costs that others don’t have, so please pay a share of your costs today.

How can I get my visit summary, medical records or test results?

• If 24+ hours pass without a call, please contact the clinic or physically come in.

Yes. We prescribe antibiotics, antivirals, inhalers, and other acute medications as appropriate.
Do you prescribe controlled substances (pain medication, anxiety medication)?
For patient and provider safety, we do not prescribe long-term controlled substances in urgent care. Short courses may be considered in specific acute situations, but chronic management must be coordinated through primary care or specialists. AMAPS will always be checked and reviewed. Any discrepancy or concern will result in our inability to prescribe a controlled substance.
